Use this guide to access the library catalogue, databases and support for any research project.

Entire Website

Format

Author's Last Name, First Name. "Title of Article/Page." Title of Website, Publisher, Date of Publication, URL. Date of Accession.

Example

“Collections.” Art Institute of Chicago Museum. Art Institute of Chicago, 2017, www.artic.edu/aic/collections. Accessed 4 Feb. 2021.

Website with a Known Author

Format

Author's Last Name, First Name. Title of Website, Name of Organization Affiliated with the Website, Date of copyright or date last modified/updated, URL. Accessed access date.

Example

Mabillard, Amanda. Shakespeare Online, 29 Dec. 2011, www.shakespeare-online.com. Accessed 4 Feb. 2021.

Page or Document on a Website with a Known Author

Format

Author's Last Name, First Name. "Title of Page or Document." Title of Website, Name of Organization Affiliated with the Website, Date of copyright or date last modified/updated, URL. Accessed access date. 

Example

Kushner, Jacob. "Human-hippo conflicts are exploding in this pristine patch of Kenya." National Geographic, 29 Jan. 2021, www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/2021/01/hippos-flooding-fishing-covid-collide-kenya/. Accessed 3, Feb. 2021.

Website with No Author

Sometimes, websites do not state who wrote the information on the page. When no author is listed, you may omit the author information from the MLA citation for the website and begin, instead, with the title.

Format

“Title of Web Page.” Title of Website, Publisher, Date published in Day Month Year format, URL.

Example

“One Health and Disease: Tick-Borne.” National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, www.nps.gov/articles/one-health-disease-ticks-borne.htm.
