Middle School Library: Citations

Use this guide to access the library catalogue, databases and support for any research project.

Why cite?

  1. To demonstrate you have done research in order to make credible arguments.​
  2. Giving credit to the original source and acknowledging the work of researchers.​
  3. A guide for the reader to find more information about the research topic.​
  4. Avoid plagiarism by quoting, paraphrasing or using data that is not common knowledge.

Grade Level Expectations

In all grade levels, it is expected students use MLA8 when citing sources. Students need to do their best to make sure they give credit where credit is due. Always ask for assists if you need help with citations.
